Guided Design Support

Learn how to design your own edible or regenerative garden with step-by-step guidance, feedback, and resources to help you turn ideas into a practical plan you can plant. There may be homework, but your ownership, understanding, and ability to add and adapt in future seasons will be strengthened with this approach.

$75/hr - Online
$90/hr - In-Person

The additional cost for in-person sessions accounts for increased time and expenses associated with travel and materials.

Landscape series:

  • Learn how to observe the land like a designer, identifying patterns, opportunities, and challenges that will shape your entire plan.

You’ll create a simple base map of your space, and I’ll review it for clarity, accuracy, and any missing observations. I’ll highlight the most important site factors influencing your design and provide actionable suggestions for refining your observations before we build on them.

  • Translate what you learned from reading the land into a functional layout that supports your daily habits, energy, time, and goals.

You’ll draft a functional layout that places the major components of your future garden in zones, and I’ll help you assess whether your zones align with your goals and site conditions and troubleshoot any challenges or competing goals.

I’ll also suggest alternative layouts or adjustments, as needed.

  • Learn how to choose plants intentionally, pairing edible and native plants in thoughtful ways that reduce maintenance and increase health and resilience in your garden.

You’ll create a detailed plant palette for 2-3 key areas of your design, and I’ll help you fine-tune plant choices, spacing, and combinations. I’ll offer alternatives for plants that may struggle in your site conditions and provide guidance on balancing beauty, food production, and maintenance.

In the end, you’ll be clear on which plants best serve your unique vision and goals.

  • Combine everything you’ve created into a cohesive, realistic design with a step-by-step installation plan that aligns with your time, energy, and resources.

I’ll review your full design, suggest simple refinements to improve flow, resilience, or ease, and provide support in determining a realistic installation timeline.

Overall, this session focuses on empowerment and clarity so you can move forward confidently

Container Garden series:

  • Learn how to read your balcony or patio as a dynamic mini ecosystem so you can design a container garden that thrives in the space you actually have.

You’ll create a simple observation map of your space, and I’ll review your map and accompanying photos for accuracy and key insights. I’ll help you identify hidden microclimates you may have missed and provide clear guidance on which constraints matter most moving forward.

  • Turn your observations into a container-friendly layout that fits your routines, habits, and the way you use your outdoor space.

You’ll draft 2–3 container layout sketches, showing where each type of container, trellis, or feature could go, and I’ll assess your layouts for flow and feasibility. I’ll help refine container placement based on microclimates and provide suggestions to simplify and strengthen your design.

  • Learn how to choose the right plants for the right pot, pairing edibles and pollinator-friendly species in ways that maximize harvests and minimize maintenance.

You’ll create a detailed plant palette for your chosen layout, and I’ll help you fine-tune plant choices, spacing, and combinations. I’ll offer suggestions for plant groupings in shared pots and make recommendations for soil, pot size, and seasonal swaps.

In the end, you’ll be clear on which plants best serve your unique vision and goals.

  • Finish with a clear, actionable plan for setting up your container garden, step-by-step, season by season, at a pace that fits your life.

I’ll provide detailed feedback on your final design, help you adjust any part that still feel confusing or overwhelming, and advise you on a tailored installation plan, based on your time, budget, and overall goals.

This session completes your plan and prepares you to install it with confidence.
